Today, as we celebrate International Women’s Day, Centre For Community Development Health and Family Enhancement Initiatives reaffirms its commitment to promoting the rights, welfare, and empowerment of women in our society. We recognize the invaluable contributions women make to our communities, and we acknowledge the unique challenges they face.
Women are the backbone of our communities, providing care, support, and leadership in various spheres of life. However, despite their importance, women continue to face numerous barriers to equality, including discriminatory laws, social norms, and institutional practices. One of the most pervasive and devastating forms of discrimination against women is Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
SGBV is a gross violation of women’s human rights, causing physical, emotional, and psychological harm. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that women are protected from SGBV and that perpetrators are held accountable. We must work together to create a society where women can live without fear of violence, coercion, or exploitation.
Furthermore, women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) are fundamental to their overall well-being and empowerment. However, many women continue to face barriers in accessing quality healthcare, including reproductive health services. It is essential that we prioritize women’s SRHR, ensuring that they have access to comprehensive healthcare, including family planning, maternal healthcare, and safe abortion services.
At Centre For Community Development Health and Family Enhancement Initiatives, we are committed to standing with women and girls, advocating for their rights, and supporting their empowerment. We will continue to work tirelessly to:
– Promote policies and laws that protect women’s rights and welfare
– Support survivors of SGBV with comprehensive services, including counseling, medical care, and legal assistance
– Advocate for women’s SRHR, including access to quality healthcare and reproductive health services
– Empower women and girls through education, economic empowerment, and leadership development programs
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we reiterate our commitment to creating a society where women and girls can thrive, free from violence, discrimination, and inequality. We call on all stakeholders, including governments, civil society organizations, and individuals, to join us in this effort.
Together, we can create a brighter future for women and girls, where their rights are respected, their voices are heard, and their contributions are valued.
Happy International Women’s Day!
